BCN Recognized As 2019 Hospice Honors RecipientNavigator News
(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – Bluegrass Care Navigators has been recognized as a 2019 Hospice Honors recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, placing the organization among the nation’s to hospice providers for patient experience scores.
Serving 32 Kentucky counties and more than 5,100 patients with hospice services in 2018, Bluegrass Care Navigators is one of the largest nonprofit providers of hospice care in the United States.
Hospice Honors is an annual review that recognizes hospices which continuously provide the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view. Hospice Honors acknowledges high-performing agencies by analyzing their CAHPS quality measures. The awards are an exclusive recognition for hospice programs that utilize HEALTHCAREfirst as their hospice survey facilitator.
“The Hospice Honors recognition is a direct reflection of the effort our entire team makes to have a meaningful impact on patients and their families through the final months and weeks of life,” said Bluegrass Care Navigators CEO Liz Fowler. “We are proud to have received this honor.”
For a hospice to be considered for the award, the organization must have scored above the national average on the Hospice CAHPS “Willingness to Recommend” question, and also must exceed the national average on at least 20 out of 24 questions on the survey.
“The ‘willingness to recommend’ score is an important indicator of the care we provide,” said Chief Medical Officer Dr. Todd Cote. “To us, it means that you would want friends and family to receive the same care that we provided to your loved one."
Bluegrass Care Navigators has been a national leader in providing expert, connected hospice care to patients and families for 41 years. The organization provides hospice care in 32 counties across northern, central and southeastern Kentucky. Additionally, Bluegrass Care Navigators offers palliative care, home primary care, private duty nursing care, transitional care and adult day health care services.
