Melissa Baker, LPN

Missy is the instructor for the 2-week day classes. She has 20 years of experience as a nurse and has a passion for the profession. Her diversified career includes time as a travel nurse, as well as working in orthopedic and medical/surgical units and long-term care facilities. Missy has taught CNA classes for five years.

Stephanie Walker, LPN

Stephanie is the instructor for the weekend classes. She graduated from BCTC in Danville in 2004 with an associate degree as an LPN. During her nursing career, she has worked in long-term care, dialysis and cancer services. She began her teaching career in 2011.

Loretta Kawaja, RN

Loretta is a part-time instructor at the training center. She has dual degrees in radiology technology and nursing. With over 20 years experience in healthcare, she is currently Nurse Coordinator for Extra Care Private Duty Nursing. Loretta brings a wealth of knowledge to our center, including patient care at Markey Cancer Center, UK Emergency Department, home health care and ambulatory care clinics.

Angela Staiano, RN

Angela is the program supervisor for the training center. She received her BSN from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009. Angela works for Clinical Resources LLC as an Independent Nurse Consultant.

Sandy Gowdy, MHCM

Sandy is our Extra Care Program Director. She began her career in the clinical area of Hospice of the Bluegrass in June of 1995. She joined the Extra Care team in 2003 and was promoted to Director in 2016. Sandy has a BS degree in Management and dual Masters degrees in Business Administration and Health Care Management.
